Ranieri Dedicates Champions League To Deschamps

The Bianconeri returned to Europe’s big time on Tuesday night after seeing off Artmedia 5-1 on aggregate. However, Ranieri knows that it has been a long and winding journey back and he is fully aware that credit must be given to his predecessor Didier Deschamps, who steered the Old Lady to Serie A last year following their Serie B demotion in 2006.“I have to compliment the old guard starting with Deschamps who took over in Serie B,” said Ranieri.“He was the setting stone for Juve’s rebirth.“We have now ended the journey and from today we will begin a new chapter in our history.“I am very happy with everything and to be honest, things are easier here at Juventus compared to elsewhere.”The Old Lady has missed out from top European football for the past two years as a result of their Calciopoli punishment. They have made their return for the first time in over 25 months and will be looking to make the most of it.The club has invested heavily in new players over the summer and all eyes will be on the Champions League as the Bianconeri try to reap the rewards of a good campaign in Europe.
