Inter To Announce Quaresma Signing Today

Quaresma’s prospected move to San Siro has become one of the transfer soap operas of the summer in Italy, and Inter have been chasing the 24-year-old for what now seems like an eternity.

The main problem in closing the deal had been the failure to find a compromise over a transfer fee, with some reports claiming that Porto were demanding as much as €40m.

However the Gazzetta claims that a deal was agreed between Inter and Porto officials after last night’s Champions League draw in Monaco.

Inter will pay somewhere in the region of €20m, and will also throw in young Portuguese midfielder Pele as part of the exchange. Quaresma will earn just under €3m, and will sign a four-year contract.

The 24-year-old will travel to Milan today, and once he arrives the deal will become official.

Inter coach Jose Mourinho had been hoping to bring in one more winger before the end of the transfer window in order to suit his preferred 4-3-3 formation.

Amantino Mancini has already been signed from Roma earlier this summer, and Quaresma will now give Inter four strong wide options, along with Mario Balotelli and Luis Figo.
