After missing the decisive penalty in the shoot-out against Inter in the Italian Supercup, Roma skipper Francesco Totti may have to face some unexpected consequences.
Following the game, his team mates and coach obviously did not want to place the blame for the defeat entirely on the captain's shoulders. But this was certainly not the first time Totti has missed from the spot in recent times.
Coach Luciano Spalletti was asked about this issue today, and admitted that the player's position as the first choice penalty take is no longer entirely certain.
"The missed penalty? It can happen," he said, before crucially adding: "We will decide in the dressing room whether he will remain our penalty taker."
Other candidates for the role could be David Pizarro, Mirko Vucinic or Daniele De Rossi, who is seen by many as shoo-in to take over the captain's armband after Totti retires.
