Player Ratings: Atlético 4-0 Schalke

ATLÉTICOLeo Franco 7 - Hardly had a testing shot to save, but did well when calledupon and was strong when clearing high balls into the area.Heitinga 7 - A solid display at the back which was helped by Schalke's inability to put together many flowing moves.Perea 8 - The Colombian almost netted an own goal, but his speed and agility was evident in keeping Kuranyi quiet.Ujfaluši 8 - Powerful in the air and intimidating on the floor, he showed that he will be a key addition for the season ahead.Pernía 7 - Proved that he has lost none of his zest with a performance full of passion that unsettled his opponents.Maxi 8 - A captain's display from the Argentinian that was capped with a deserved goal from the penalty spot.Raúl García 7 - Sat in midfield and calmly controlled things without ever really making an impression on the game.Maniche 8 - After being sent out on loan and having to prove himself again, won the fans over with a very good game in the midfield.Simão 6 - One good run in the first half and another after the break to win the penalty was not enough from the talented wide man.Forlán 7 - The Uruguayan was very good in spells, but it was evident that he is still in pre-season mode and needs some more training.Agüero 9 - After stating that he was not teh saviour, the diminutive forward made an incredible return from the Olympics to win Atlético the match.SubsLuis García 8Assunção 7Sinama 6SCHALKESchober 7 - The German keeper may have let in four goals, but he also prevented the scoreline from being much bigger.Westermann 5 - Part of a Schalke defence that was sorely tested, but will still be frustrated to have let in four goals.Pander 4 - Looked frustrated and tired when clumsily tripping Simão at the end before being sent off.Bordon 5 - If the forwards had been able to take some of the pressure off and hold the ball up in Atleti's half things could have been so different.Höwedes 5 - Never really looked comfortable coming up against Agüero and was unable to stop the forward on the majority of occasions.Kobiashvili 4 - Did not produce what was expected of him and became embroiled in arguments he did not need to.Ernst 6 - Arguably Schalke's best outfield player on the night, but still nowhere near good enough.Rakitić 5 - Yet another player that should have helped Schalke to produce a more controlled display considering they went into the match ahead.Jones 5 - Failed to put his foot on the ball and create anything of note from the midfield.Halil Altıntop 5 - Showed signs of his ability, but did not produce them often or for long enough and that summed up the whole team.
