Spalletti Wants One More Signing

The Giallorossi did not get off to the start they were looking for this new Serie A season, as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by 10-man Napoli yesterday.

The capital outfit showed a few signs of fragility, and indeed could have lost the game were it not for a string of fine saves by goalkeeper Alexander Doni.

Despite recent big money signings of Julio Baptista and Jeremey Menez, coach Spalletti has admitted that he would possibly like to bring in one more player, someone to act as an alternative to currently injured attacking midfielder Rodrigo Taddei.

"If it were possible to serve up a substitute for Taddei [then yes], but without forcing things,” Spalletti told the Corriere dello Sport, before adding that Matteo Brighi would not be sold to Torino in an exchange with self-confessed Roma fan Davide Di Michele.

“I do not think that Brighi will leave, and there will be no exchange with Di Michele.

“In this respect the market is closed. Let's see what can happen in the final hours."

Other players to sign for Roma this summer are Liverpool’s John Arne Riise and Siena’s Simone Loria.
