Camoranesi Writes Off Viola Title Chances

The two sides met at the Stadio Franchi last night, and Juve seemed destined to win after they took a first half lead through Pavel Nedved.

However, despite having chances to go 2-0 up, the Viola fought back to earn a point thanks to Alberto Gilardino’s 89th minute equaliser.

“We thought we could get the win,” said Camoranesi.

“We controlled the game to a certain extent and they didn't look like scoring.

“After we went 1-0 up we were in charge and I'm disappointed that it ended level.”

Before the season started, the Italian media listed five teams – Juve, Inter, Milan, Roma and Fiorentina – as those who would fight for the Scudetto, but Camoranesi believes that Cesare Prandelli’s men are not yet ready.

“We will fight to the wire for the Scudetto, but that seems too much for Fiorentina because they are still a young side,” he explained.

“The Viola will grow over the next two or three seasons but their target should be the top four.”

Juventus play host to Udinese in matchday two, while Fiorentina travel to rapidly-rising Napoli.
