No Adriano Contract Talks - Branca

Brazilian striker Adriano returned to Inter this summer following his loan spell and rehabilitation in his homeland and, despite currently being injured, his pre-season form suggested that the future is looking bright again for the ‘Emperor’.

However, Branca insists that there are no plans at present to tie Adriano down to a new deal at San Siro.

"His renewal? I will not speak about this, it is not in our policy,” said the transfer chief.

“The Brazilian’s contract is not due to expire next year and he knows very well that we do not need to hurry.”

Branca also commented on unsettled frontman Crespo, who was absolutely furious after being left off Jose Mourinho’s roster for the Champions League group stages.

"Mourinho had spoken and certain things were already known before Monday,” he explained.

“The list was prepared two-to-three days before this, and the coach was very clear with everyone.”

Finally, Branca spoke about Nigerian striker Obinna, who was signed from Chievo, and was due to join Everton on loan, only for the transfer to collapse due to work permit problems.

"The boy understood that it was better to play and he was happy to join Everton,” Branca noted.

“Then the British authorities did not acknowledge his presence in the National Olympic team, which was needed for him to have played 75 percent of his country’s games.

“Thus he was not granted a work permit. This is very strange for a national captain who played in an Olympic final, and returned with a silver medal."
