Humble Zarate: I'm No Messi

Lazio put four goals past a distraught Cagliari side who were one up before defender Diego Lopez was sent off in the second half.

The Biancocelesti seemed destined to lose the game with Cagliari in control, but the red card changed the complexion of the match and it was all downhill for Cagliari after that. Lazio ended the match with a good 4-1 win away from home, thanks to goals from striker Mauro Zarate.

Argentinian striker Zarate contributed two of Lazio’s goals and his impressive brace has not gone unnoticed. The striker has been described as one to watch this season in Serie A after impressive performances during the pre-season period,. Now, people back in his native Argentina are beginning to appreciate the striker's talent.

The player is now being called 'Pibe de Haedo', and certain newspapers are excited about Zarate's talent and potential, stating that Zarate eclipsed Brazilian Ronaldinho's debut Rossoneri performance.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito had added to the excitement a few weeks ago when he insisted that the forward is better than his compatriot Lionel Messi. However, Zarate is embarrassed by the comparison, saying, “The things people say about me makes me proud, but at the moment Leo is one of the best players in the world. You can't say that I'm better.”

The humble footballer concluded with his first impressions of the Italian game, adding, “Italian football is very similar to the Argentinian game, only more tactical. But we have a great team.”
