Ronaldinho Was Fantastic – Galliani

The Rossoneri did not have the start to the new season that they were looking for yesterday afternoon as, despite dominating from start to finish, they were humbled 2-1 at home by newly promoted Bologna.

"The result isn't good, but we were unlucky, even though we are not blameless,” said Galliani.

“In any case no one can say we didn't have a good transfer campaign, Zambrotta, Flamini, and Ronaldinho were the best on the pitch.

“We have to improve defensively but when your opponent finds the miracle goal it's tough. I am very upset for our fans, who came to San Siro in great numbers. In any case the team is there, we have an incredible number of stars, in every department, we will recover.

“If it were a boxing match we would have made more points but unfortunately only the goals count. We will have time to improve our tactics, I am confident, even though it hurts when I think about that shot by Valiani that went in just under the crossbar.”

Galliani then singled out Ronaldinho for praise. The Brazilian put in a mesmerising performance, creating Massimo Ambrosini’s goal as well as a host of other chances.

“Ronaldinho was fantastic, certainly the best on the pitch,” Galliani stated.

“We had plenty of chances that were created by him, unfortunately the balls didn't go in the goal but going forward we were much more dangerous than last season."

Milan will be looking to get their first points on the board in a fortnight’s time when they travel to Genoa for matchday two.
