Arrigo Sacchi has oft made given brutal assessments of Italian sides. Now, though, the outspoken and critical coach sought to flatter Fiorentina, predicting that they can push for Scudetto glory in the months to come. The bald-headed coach-cum-pundit had kind words for the Florence based outfit, insists that they deserve to take plaudits after rising back to the top of Italian football after bankruptcy landed them in C2. “The fans and the city have created a positive environment,” wrote Sacchi. Proceeding to define the coach's part in Fiorentina's return to greatness, he enthused: ”With Cesare [Prandelli], the club is getting great results while playing an organised, enjoyable and workmanlike game.” Sacchi is similarly impressed with Fiorentina's focus on youth development. He believes the Viola can now be considered genuine challengers for the Scudetto. “They could be the great surprise, as long as the Champions League doesn't demand too much from them,” added Sacchi. After praising the team and the manager, Sacchi mentioned that perhaps the addition of a technically good defender would complete the side. The Viola have recieved the message loud and clear, as they have already been searching the market for a potential player to add to the back line. Only time will tell if Sacchi's predictions of Viola success are off the mark.
