Becks Longs For Home Sweet Home
England's new Home of Football has felt like anything but since it opened in 2007 following the demolition of the old arena four years prior. In its short existence the 90,000-seater has played host to two seasons' worth of cup finals and a number of international fixtures, most of which have been underwhelming both on the pitch and in the stands. For the famous atmosphere of what Pele once described as "the cathedral of football" is yet to be rediscovered. Indeed, the loudest noise one can expect to hear are the unified boos that greet Frank Lampard's introduction. And following Wednesday's 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic, Beckham insisted the time is ripe for the Three Lions to transform Wembley into a fearsome den once more. The LA Galaxy midfielder told The Sun: “We haven’t made Wembley our home yet. That’s the biggest thing. It feels like when we’re going out there it’s tough.“We need to make it daunting for players and teams coming to Wembley. But we will get there. It’s about getting confidence up, which will happen in the qualifiers.“Of course, we need a big win to get the fans onside. That’s what we want to see and it’s what the fans want to see.“We will do that because we’ve the quality players to do that. It will happen.”
