Senna Extends Villarreal Stay

Spanish daily Marca has reported that Villarreal president, Fernando Roig announced after the team’s friendly against Udinese last night that the club have taken the decision to extend Senna’s contract – which still had two years to run – for one more season.
In light of the recent interest shown by various clubs, namely Fenerbahçe, for the holding midfielder’s services, his agent Elía Coimbra scheduled a meeting yesterday with the club to sort out the European Champion’s future once and for all and a new agreement was promptly reached.
“We have decided to renew Marcos Senna’s contract for another year, as he is without doubt a very important player, a player that Villarreal needs in the squad to keep growing,” Roig explained.
“And for that reason, we have improved his contract and raised the buy-out clause to €100 million. All parties are clear on this matter and everyone is very satisfied,” the president concluded.
The 32 year old player was delighted to hear the news: “I have always stated my desire to stay at Villarreal and it makes me very happy to have my contract extended to three years.
“Now, I can focus solely on playing well for Villarreal and enjoying another great season,” beamed Senna.
