Lyon And HSV Battle Over Emanuelson

According to the latest reports out of the Netherlands, Ajax have received a 6.5m euro offer from Lyon for the attack-minded wing-back, who made his debut for the Dutch capital club when he was only eighteen and has now made 91 league appearances so far for the Amsterdam side. Emanuelson, 22, still has a contract at the club until 2011, however, and Ajax boss Marco van Basten is said to be unwilling to sell.Despite failing to make the final cut for Euro 2008 due to a rather disappointing season with Ajax last time around, Emanuelson has intermittently been linked with other big teams like Valencia and Tottenham Hotspur. The versatile left-sided player was a key member of the Dutch squad that won the UEFA U-21 Championship in 2006, so much so that he was named in the Team of the Tournament.
