Laporta: We Have A Dream

"The beleaguered Blaugrana supremo saw over 55 per cent of club members present at the assembly on Sunday vote for him to remain and that made his mind up not to to stand down.

Last month, eight members of the board resigned after a vote of no confidence saw 60 per cent go against Laporta, falling just short of the 66 per cent required to remove him.

This weekend the fans had another chance to voice their opinion and this time they chose to keep the president after a promising summer on the pitch and good financial results off it.

'The vote last month was a punishment,' Laporta told the conference. 'But I will not leave the post because I believe that there is an immediate need for continuity.

'We had to make decisions to restructure. We were aware of our responsibilities. That is key. Our conscience is clear.”

Laporta is hopeful that the strong financial situation at Barça will allow the club to move forward and recapture the same feeling of optimisim that existed when he first took over in 2003.

'Now we have the same dream as back then, but we just have more experience to go with it. We must go forward together and not belittle our success,' he added."
