The Czech star, who was outstanding during Tuesday night’s Champions League qualifier, injured his right ankle during training and he had to be stretchered off.The injury seems serious but the club have not yet confirmed the extent of the damage.Nedved is set to undergo further examinations this afternoon but there are strong fears that he could miss the first game of the Serie A season against in-form Fiorentina on Sunday. It’s not what Claudio Ranieri needs, clearly, and the midfielder’s latest setback is likely to give the Tinkerman a few headaches.Momo Sissoko is already out through suspension and Giorgio Chiellini is still injured. Mauro Camoranesi is still recovering from a minor knock, leaving major gaps in the middle and at the back. The Bianconeri have been hampered by a number of injuries this summer. Unwanted midfielder Tiago was set to leave, but he may be retained in light of the Nedved situation. In any case, Ranieri will have to shuffle his pack of aces and put out a makeshift team against Cesare Prandelli’s Viola this weekend.
